Target Audience

The target audience for my psychological film trailer will be an age range from 15-24 of both genders. I think this is the ideal age range as according to my research, this is the age range that attend the cinema most to see horror films closely relating to my horror trailer. I assume that my target audience will most probably still be students who look for escapism in their social life by retreating to the cinema to watch a film. I also think, like me, they will be interested in horror films and enjoy the adrenaline rush you get from the typical conventions of a horror film. My best example would be the Paranormal Activity films and how the audience knows that something bad is going to happen every time it turns to night and appears on screen as ' NIGHT #3 AUGUST 3RD 2012'. This brings anticipation to the audience and ensures that they are in for a fright which builds the bodies adrenaline as they know that something is coming.

I believe that I am appealing to a mass audience of teenagers to young adults who are working to middle class, mostly with part time jobs in full time education or in full time jobs. I am picking this socio-economic group as I believe all the people in this mass audience can afford to attend the cinema to see new releases and are part of a community that I am also apart of with the same interests and lifestyle that is flowing in the 21st century.  I believe that there is a huge gap I the market at the moment for a story line like mine. Following all the Northampton clown articles that I have talked about earlier on in my blog, I believe that this story line would make a great and interesting film if a few twists like I have created are included. I don't believe that their have been any other story lines like my own since the film 'IT' was released.
