Research- Ancillary Tasks

All these film posters are taken from psychological horror films based on the same memes and tropes I am going to include in my trailer. All the posters use dark images but with great picture quality. This is something I have captured when editing my photos to use as my advertisement. I think that the font is the most important ideology to make sure it is 100% accurate and conveys the message of the genre to the target audience.

In most psychological horror films you often do not see the 'haunting' object until the end of the film. This is why it is often 'horror rules' to only include a shadow or sense of fear from darkness when advertising the film. This is an obvious meme as if the idea of the film has been shown in the trailer, it will put people off going to watch the film. This is why film trailers should also have an open narrative so it encourages audiences to watch a film to find out what happens next or how the story is resolved.

It is also very important that the right colour scheme is used when picking the colour of the photo and the font. If this is not picked accurately, it could take the horror and fear away from the poster in seconds.

Most of the horror film posters that have been published all have very dark colour schemes including this one below 'The Conjuring'. In my opinion , this film is one of the best horror films I have ever seen and the film trailer and poster is what intrigued me to go and see the film. It is important to understand that without these advertisements, it can make a huge difference to the mass of target audience which is actually targeted and drawn in to watching the film.
